Canary Islands Quail – Coturnix Gomerae

The Canary Islands Quail inhabited El Hierro, La Palma, Tenerife and Fuerteventura before first humans settled on the islands.

Their extinction most likely began when rats and small pets, like cats, arrived with the settlers in the 15th century.

Unfortunately we have no picture of this quail for obvious reasons 🙁
